BACHELOR OF ARTS (LIGUISTICS, MEDIA AND COMMUNICATION)
The Linguistics, Media and Communication programme has been designed to explore the interplay of language in social, political and cultural contexts and to appreciate the diversity of the power of communication. There are three study routes that all students take in the programme:
- Linguistic route with core and optional courses;
- Media route with core and optional courses; and MES courses
- Communication route with core and optional courses.

Objectives/Admission
The objectives of the course are:
- to introduce the students to the role the new media play in the maintenance and transformation of society we live in today.
- to study consumer awareness of media power.
- to analyze the kinds of information and values conveyed by the media.
- to analyze the linguistic levels of language.
- to understand the role of language in communication
Admission Requirements
To be admitted into B. A. in Linguistic Media and Communication degree of Moi University a candidate must:
Satisfy the minimum entry requirements set for admission into Kenyan public universities.
Have passed the Kenya certificate of secondary education (KCSE) with a minimum average grade of B- in English
Holders of diplomas and higher diplomas in relevant disciplines may at the discretion of the School of Arts and Social Sciences be admitted into the second year of study.
Duration of the Programme
The programme will run like any other programme in the School of Arts and Social Sciences i.e. 8 semesters or calendar years.
