BACHELOR OF ARTS IN HISTORY
This programme is designed to expose students to a wide variety of historical knowledge so that they are able to understand the nature and importance of history. More specifically, the programme aims at equipping students with research and analytical skills for the production and dissemination of historical knowledge, enhancing students’ ability to appreciate the diversity of global historical and cultural experiences and inculcating in students patriotism and qualities of good leadership. The courses in the programme include surveys of world history, general histories of Africa, Kenya, Europe, Latin America, Asia, United States of America and the developing nations. Students are also introduced to research methods in history and historical thought. Finally, the programme offers specific courses in economic, political, environmental, medical, intellectual and gender history.

Objectives/Admission
Objectives of the programme:
1. To sensitize learners on the significance of historical knowledge in creating national l cohesion, appreciate other cultures to have unity in diversity
2. To equip students in skills to conduct historical research and dissemination of the findings
3. To expose students to various theoretical approaches on the nature of historical knowledge and its contribution to development of society
Admission Requirements
1. To be admitted into the degree programme, the applicant must fulfill the Joint Admission Board requirements as prescribed in the cluster 6 of JAB admission criteria; minimum of C+ or
2. Two principal passes and the subsidiary pass at KACE- “A” Level or
3. Applicants in possession of a Moi University Senate recognized diploma in the relevant area may be admitted in the programme.
