Introduction

The Diploma in Theatre programme focuses on the need to nurture the creative skills of theatre practitioners in the aspects of acting, stage directing, script writing, stage management and production. The programme also prepares theatre artists for further studies at degree level, thereby developing critical thought and the ability to link theory with the practice of theatre. Aspects involving the application of theatre to intervention work in education and social development are also included.

Objectives

a) To provide students with theoretical knowledge on the principles of theatre

b) To inculcate in students the practical skills in performance.

c) To facilitate in students the knowledge to link work in the performing arts with development initiatives in society

d) To prepare students for further studies in at degree level in theatre
