BACHELOR OF ARTS IN THEOLOGY

The Department of Philosophy, Theology and Religious Studies offers programmes  at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels ranging from Diploma to Doctoral levels. A B.A. Student can major in any of the following programmes: i) Philosophy, ii) Theology or iii) Religious Studies. The programmes are designed to instill a critique in the student in perception for application of Philosophical, Theological, and Religious knowledge for development at local, national and International levels. The Department strives to serve the Kenyan Society by meeting the academic and practical development needs and interests of a wide spectrum of people.

Objectives/Admission

The programme objectives are

1.    To introduce students to the interdisciplinary study of theology, and sharpen their analytical and research skills in a university setting.
2.    To prepare students to reflect critically on the place of theology in the contemporary political, social, religious and economic environments
3.    To enable students have contemplative examination and critical analysis of various theologies and worldviews.
4.    To enhance the student’s  capacity to understand and appreciate theological, religious and cultural diversity.

Admission Requirements
1.    To be admitted into this programme, the applicant must fulfill JAB requirement as prescribed in cluster 6 of the JAB admission criteria.
2.    For mature entry one must be a holder of a minimum mean grade of C+ of 2 principles and subsidiary or a diploma in a relevant discipline or its equivalent.
