Objectives/Admission

Objectives:

The general aim of the programme is to provide students with skills and knowledge to enable them to appreciate and understand the nature, function and structure of the German language. More specifically, students will:

    Acquire the skills to utilize appropriate vocabulary and advanced st r uct ures f or oral  and wri t t en communication.
    Gain an in-depth appreciation of the interplay between language, literature, media, German society and culture, which will enhance  their inter-cultural understanding and international perspectives
    Acquire comprehensive academic skills which will enable them to access and process information in their field of study and other fields

Admission Requirements
To be admitted into the B.A. (German) degree programme ofMoi University a candidate must:

  1. Satisfy the minimum entry requirements set for admission into Kenyan public universities which is at least a C+
  2. Have passed the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with at least a B- in German.
  3. Holders of diplomas and higher diplomas in relevant disciplines may at the discretion of the School of Artsand Social Sciences be admitted into the second year of study.
  4. Candidates whose K.C.S.E. grade  in German is grade  C, but who have also taken German courses at other tertiary institutions and received a Diploma that is recognized by the Senate, ( that is, ‘Zertifikat Deutsch als Fremdsprache’(GIII)) will also be considered.

Duration of the Programme
The programme will run like any other programme in the School of Arts and Social Sciences i.e. 8 semesters or 4 academic years.
