BACHELOR OF ARTS IN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

 This programme is designed to achieve the two-fold objective of providing a thorough grounding in the discipline and applying sociological understanding to the areas of national and international concerns where graduates can put their critical thinking and skills into practice. Students who upon entering the second year of study and opt for Community Development as their discipline of specialization have to select their courses in terms of units distributed as given earlier.

The objectives of the programme are to:

1.    Promote and develop an understanding of Community Development  knowledge, values and skills.
2.    Prepare students for careers in government, the private sector and non-governmental organizations;
3.    Build competencies for consultancies, outreach and research, and
4.    Equip students with appropriate skills for Community Development so  that  they become strong  policy practitioners.
5.    To produce quality professionals in the social sciences for the academia, research and practical action in government, international bodies and Non-Governmental Organization fields

Admission Requirements
To be admitted in the degree programme the applicant must fulfill the common academic requirements as prescribed by Moi University. These are mainly:

1.    Mean grade of C+ at KCSE or
2.    Two principal passes and the subsidiary pass at KACE - “A” Level or
3.    A diploma in a related discipline from a recognized/ accredited institution
