MASTERS OF ARTS IN FILM AND MEDIA STUDIES

The MA Film and Media degree programme is a two year course designed to equip graduate students with advanced critical analytical skills in film making, various media programme designs and media theory. It focuses on aspects of visual imagination and communication, semiosis and media discourse. It also aims at interrogating film and media as industry, culture and ideology. The programme aims to provide advanced understanding of pre-production and postproduction processes in film and the media industry.

The main objectives of the MA Film and Media programme are:

  1. To create opportunity for further training in the field of film and media
  2. To encourage research in film and media studies
 Admission requirements
Applicants must have a Bachelors degree in Literature, Theatre or Film or the equivalent:- first class; second class (honours)
or Lower Second class with working experience in the relevantfield.
Duration
The Masters program shall normally take four semesters of sixteen weeks each (two academic years). Semester one and
two are devoted to coursework and research methodology, semester three to field and library research ,analysis of data
and drafting of the thesis, in semester four students complete coursework as they finish the final draft thesis. The dissertation
must be submitted to the department at least a month before the end of the program.
Programme Structure
